Kathy received her Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art in Painting from the University of California at Los Angeles and her Mater's Degree in Painting from NMSU. she later headed the NMSU-a Art Department.

Her work is strongly influenced by a sense of place. In much of her most recent work, Kathy implies that individual experience and personal perspective color our view. the truth, as represented in Kathy's paintings , is unchanging, but each perspective is entirely unique.

Kathy paints in acrylics and watercolors. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and collections throughout new Mexico, the United States and Canada.
